Guiding Principles And Values

Our values express our commitment to maintaining the integrity of the I/O discipline and represent a code of conduct that helps guide the behavior of all people associated with The Center.

Valuing Diversity

A true multicultural organization is comprised of individuals from diverse backgrounds whose ideas are valued, supported, and incorporated into the organization’s core functioning. We embrace true multiculturalism; one which integrates diversity into the total organizational mindset.

Evidenced-Based Solutions

The Center is proactive in the application of research. Methodologically rigorous and scientifically grounded information is translated into business-ready, meaningful, and useful applications for organizations.

Creativity and Innovation

Our interns are encouraged to break outside of their comfort zone and challenge status quo thinking to enhance knowledge acquisition and promote continuous learning.

Champion of Total Organizational Health

We strive to improve all aspects of the work environment by supporting the organization’s leaders as well as the individual employee to enhance both the quality of work and the quality of life.

Ethics and Professionalism

Our interns are polished in appearance and manner and are trained to behave ethically. Projects are approached with professionalism with the end goal of improving organizations.

Shared Communication

An open, two-way communication channel between scientists and practitioners involves the effective exchange of both scholarly and real-world information. We encourage this interaction by clearly communicating ideas as well as actively listening to others to enable a better and more productive partnership.

Student-Focused

Our students are at the heart of The Center and focusing on student development is central to our purpose. By working with organizations and field experts on relevant projects, our interns sharpen their skill set and understanding of I/O psychology, thereby facilitating their growth as practitioners.
